General info

It's a new year and a new term, so remember to check all your courses whether they need pre-registration or if it's just a walk-in course. Also, if you feel lost, feel free to contact your old tutors, the board of Anglica or your teachers!
The board has now agreed on the time for the weekly board meetings, and that time is on Tuesdays at 18, in the usual place, H2 of Juslenia. All members of Anglica are welcome to join the meetings, share their thoughts and give us ideas for new events or the such.

So yeaaaaah, scroll down for LOADS of information!

BANDS WANTED

Have a band? Wanna play? BANDNIGHT IS THE SOLUTION.

We're having the traditional, annual ANGLICA's BANDNIGHT at Klubi on 14.3., but we're STILL ONE BAND SHORT! So here is where you come into play, member of Anglica. If you happen to be in a band or know some Anglican who plays in a band, ask them if they could play that night and inform us!

Genre does not matter - we're offering your bands a chance to play on a real stage instead of garages and basements. So the point is just to have Anglica's bands to share their music with the rest of us and have a fun night at Klubi. To all you music types then: get your acts together and start rehearsing and planning a setlist for the legendary BANDNIGHT!

Anglica SWEATS! AWESOME!!

In recent news: Fundraising for Anglica's big 55th birthday has lead to the inception of ANGLICA SWEATS. A preview image of them is on the right, click it to enlarge it. So they are navy blue (as to match your overalls!) and the hoodie as well as the pants have a snazzy, stylized Anglica logo on them, inspired by Anglo-American universities. The hoodie will cost you 35 euros and the pants 25 euros but you can get them both as a set for a special price of 55 euros!

Do keep in mind they are limited for the time being and all the proceeds go directly into funding the Big 55th.
Without any further ado, SIGN UP HERE !!!

And one last thing about them, please pay for the sweats by 9.3. to Anglica's account (the number is on the left)!!

This year's first BAKE SALE!

spotted dick! So the time has finally come, and you've all been waiting for this - yes, it is the first bake sale of the year! WHOO! So as per usual, we bake and we sell so that Anglica can afford to make fun stuff happen. This year, however, is a bit special. We are currently raising funds for our big 55 (Anglica's 55th bday partaaay, that is), so all the proceeds from this bake sale will go directly into our 55-party funds. So if you've been waiting for that small nudge to bake something, I hope this is the final nudge and prod over the bake sale cliff into the gorge of bake sale mania! So we need all kinds of stuff, sweet or salty baked things: pies, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pastries etc.

So it's about time you click on that doodle link thing and sign up for either a slot for sales duty or a baked goods slot, or better yet, sign up for both!! So in case you can't be bothered to look to the left of the page, the bake sale is on a Tuesday, the 7th of February (same day as the AFC meet, so a good time to warm up the oven and give the tastebuds a time of their life) from 9.00am till the afternoon. It's all in the doodle and the FB event.

And as usual, pie makers and cake bakers get rewarded with free entry to Anglica's Band Night in March! AWESOME!

In a nutshell:
WHAT: Anglica's bake sale
WHEN: Tuesday, 7.2. @ 9am - 3pm (9.00-15.00)

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
PS. We have a new coffee maker and a water kettle for Coffee Hours and the bake sale, hooray!

Anglica Food Club convenes!

Everybody loves to eat!

Anglica Food Club has decided to meet up at Ikituuri, on the 7th of February. The theme for the meeting is still up for votes, so go to the FB page and vote for either African, Middle Eastern, Indian, East/Southeast/South-Asian, South/Middle American/Caribbean or Mediterranean. After that, you can go right ahead to the sign up doodle. So when you've done all that, you can go to the FB event and gloat with other AFCers. So in case you're oblivious to the previous AFC meets, the concept is that you all make the food together and you all pay an equal amount for it, eat it and have fun!

In a nutshell
WHAT: Anglica Food Club meet
WHEN: 7.2., 18.30
WHERE: Ikituuri

Anglica's Comedy Night: Eddie Murphy's RAW!

From the FB event:
As a companion to the Movie Nights, Anglica's introducing Comedy Nights. In other words, we'll be watching some quality comedy, stand-up shows etc.

We'll start off by traveling all the way back to the golden year of 1987, when Eddie Murphy was still being funny instead of wearing fat suits and playing x number of roles in a single movie (although, have to admit that he still got it as an ass). The policy about foods and friends is the same as it is for the movie nights, i.e. everybody's welcome. See you there! (Link to the FB event can be found on the left!)

WHEN: February 8th, 6pm (18.00)
WHERE: H1
WHAT: Funny shit (like HAHAHAHAH or LOL funny)

Coffee Hours in 2012

Coffee Hours on Wednesdays in H2 from 12 to 14!

If you happen to be hanging around Juslenia drop by for a cup of coffee or tea with your fellow students. Coffee Hours are also a great opportunity to bring up issues you would like to discuss with board members or other students in general. Overalls, badges and books are also for sale!

N.B. Those of you who are taking the Contemporary Literatures in English-course, and have preordered the books for the course, can buy them from Tomi during Coffee Hours.

See you there!

PS. We got a new coffee maker and a new water kettle, so be sure to come and try them out!
